The Tseng Family
Mike and Nancy have been on a tremendous journey of faith with God from the start of their relationship. Both Taiwan-born and United States immigrants (at ages nine and four), Mike and Nancy came to receive Jesus Christ as Savior in their teenage years. God was faithful to mature them as His disciples despite non-Chrisian homes and family challenges that remain even now.
The Tsengs met at UCLA and married almost two years after graduation in 1999. Nancy graduated with a degree in Psychology and went on teach in elementary schools, while Mike received a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked in the petroleum industry for eight years. The Tsengs adopted their daughter, Abigail, from China in 2007.
After the initial years of “settling down” and being content with faithful service in their home church, the Tsengs’ direction in life took a sharp turn. The catalyst for change was the class Perspectives on World
Christian Movements, which essentially revived God’s call for them to invest their lives in bringing the gospel to places where Christ is not known (Romans 15:20).
Beginning in 2003, the Tsengs have led various teams from their church to one of the more than 1,000 unreached people groups in East Asia. To become better equipped for crosscultural service, Mike completed a Master’s Degree in Intercultural Studies at Biola University and a Certificate in Biblical Studies at Talbot Theological Seminary.
Starting in 2008, after Mike concluded his two-year interim pastorate at EFC Harvest South Bay of Torrance, the Tsengs joined the U.S. Mobilization Team of OMF International in the southwest region. Through personal relationships, home group involvement, college campus ministries, and conferences, the Tsengs desire to mobilize people and resources in local churches to advance the Kingdom of God to the most neglected areas of the world and to address the most pressing global issues of our generation.
In 2009, the Tsengs plan to move to Asia to bring the hope of Jesus to people who
have never heard of His Name.
